Red marking over his left eye in the shape of an oak leaf spreading across his cheek and forehead the eye itself is located in the lower right corner of the marking. His usual fur colour is a tawny brown with small swirling of Cardinal red down his body culminating in a completely red tail which gave him his name. The red is also largely dominant on his ears. His eyes are a light hazel and he is missing his right canine due to it being torn out when he was a kit. Mostly keeping to himself Redtail is very studious and constantly experimenting with new herbs and incantations. Professionally Redtail is cold and distant with little interest in his patients beyond their treatment and recovery. Having only been visited by the Spirits once before the old Healer died he feels he has been inadequate as a Healer and is constantly seeking to prove himself. Kind hearted and compassionate he turns his back on his own nature in favour of gaining knowledge for the betterment of all packs in the hopes of a brighter future. Redtail had a fairly uneventful childhood in the Fox pack. At the age of eight months he was apprenticed to the Healer because the previous Healer had thought the marking over his eye was indicative of a future Healer. Having been the second smallest in his litter and the only one who didn’t become a soldier Redtail has had little contact with his family since starting his apprenticeship. His teacher had been very wise and many on in years Redtail studied under her for just over a year before taking her place.: . She heard a rustling out in front of the den indicating the Healer’s arrival. She called the Healer in “Hello Healer, Robin is just through here, do mind your step, the floor is a bit muddy through here.” “Thank you Lauren. Has his condition improved at all since you started the treatment?” the Healer asked as she stepped into their den. “Some but his fever still has yet to break. He’s been muttering again; saying that the Spirits are angry about something and sometimes he screams for no reason then starts crying, I just don’t know what to do....” Lauren started crying. “He’ll be fine. I will be upping his treatments though....What has he been saying the Spirits are angry about?” The Healer asked curiously. “I don’t know to be honest, he always begins to slur at that bit.” Lauren sobbed quietly so the other kits didn’t hear. Redtail noticed them talking in the next room and moved over to the door to eavesdrop. “Would you excuse me for a moment? I’d like to say a quick prayer to the Spirits over him.” The Healer waited for Lauren to leave then bent down over Robin and whispered into his ear “Tell me what the Spirits want boy.” but Robin didn’t reply for he had passed away. The Healer called Lauren in and told her the news. Redtail heard the wail from his mother just as he leapt to tackle his sister causing him to turn his head in midair and chip off a large part of his right canine tooth. He yelped and rubbed his snout with his eyes closed. The Healer came out to see what had happened and found Redtail hiding in the corner whimpering. “Come out of there little one, let me take a look at it.” The Healer called to him soothingly. Redtail crawls out of the corner and shows the Healer what happened “Is that it? I can take care of that, here smile really big for me okay?” Redtail smiled and the healer rubbed an herb salve on the exposed nerve of the tooth noting the marking resembling an oak leaf over his left eye as she did so “Tell me Redtail, you should be coming of age here in a few days, how would you like to be my apprentice?” Redtail looks into her eyes and asked “I’d get to help people? Like you?” “Yes little one, that would be your job just as it is mine.” The Healer smiled at the enthusiasm in the kit’s eyes. “I’d like that very much.” Redtail replied with a smile. . | Male.
