Allastair, an escapee from the military had been running in these mysterious woods for days now. He had managed to escape the military's clutches and at last found water. His now thin sides heaved as he panted heavily. His mouth watered as he approached the downfall of the waterfall. He began to lap the water up as though he had not drank for days, in this case he had not.
His tags shone in the sunlight, gleaming in the sky and treetops. He knew that that could be dangerous, but they could not come off. He heard some rustling in the bushes and perked up. He smelled rabbit and he suddenly went into hunting mode. But he did not want to intrude any more that he had on another pack's territory. He knew he was on ones, he could smell them well. "Hmmm, I am so hungry," He thought to himself. "And I smell more than wolf here, maybe it is an open hunting area. Just one Rabbit." He decided to go ahead and hunt the vermin down which was no challenge to him at all. He quickly ended the creatures life quietly, not letting it have time to sound an alarm.
He devoured it quickly and then cleaned his face well with his rough tongue and the water from the waterfall. He felt better after a small meal and began to relax a little too soon. He suddenly caught the fresh approaching scent of another wolf. He knew he was the intruder and hoped that there would not be a conflict. He awaited the wolf to emerge from the woods ahead of him, his blue gaze staring into the brushes. A bit nervous, but he held his ground and awaited to be confronted.

Aura had been dealing with a recent queen's birth. She was intrigued to see the 6 cubs that had made it into the world. It certainly was the most ever born at the pack, but it still was quite a large number. She trailed over to the queen area, but was interrupted when an apprentice burst through the cave entrance, sliding across the floor. He informed Aura that he'd smelt a wolf, unknown, hunting around the shared pack. Aura was quite surprised by this but brushed it off as a mistake. Still, she had to be safe and protect her pack. "Alright, I'm going to check it out. Alert the deputy in case something happens," she told the apprentice and ran off into the brush.
She approached the waterfall and slowed her running. The apprentice had been right. There was a new scent here. She walked along slowly. She listened, but she could only hear the splashed from the waterfall. Suddenly, a sound surprised her. Ducking into the brush, she listened as a wolf hunted something. She stayed still the whole time listening. She could tell he was large from the sounds when he shifted his weight, most likely male. She also guessed he was a complete rogue and not from another pack because most people shunned on eating from this area, as it just led to fights among packs. As he moved again, she stood up. She would confront the stray wolf. She stood up, puffing her stomach out, attempting to make herself bigger.
She approached the stray wolf. She walked out into the clearing around the waterfall. "Hunting around the waterfall is forbidden between packs," she stated to the strange wolf. She didn't recognize the wolf, or any markings that could signify he was a descendant of their pack. "Now, tell me, why shouldn't I kill you right now and protect my pack?" It was a serious challenge. She was a large and strong wolf with strong that worked hard to be enough for herself and her deceased brother. It was her true strength that had brought her to position in the pack.

Alastair lowered his tail to show a submissive behavior and that he meant no threat to her. He gulped and cleared his raspy throat. "I am new here...I escaped from humans and...I was unaware of any laws here, forgive me." He bowed his head respectively and took a step back. He dared not meet her gaze to show any challenging behavior. He knew he was in the wrong, but not on purpose. "I am no threat to you or your pack, I swear."
He looked at her, she was rather lovely and well fit. She was Alpha of the pack he smelled. Her dark and light brown coat shimmered in the sunlight trying to break through the trees above. The wind carried more scents to his nose and he sensed others near. Were they a threat? He had no clue. He had to think of a way to convince her he was no threat to her.
"As I said, Alpha, I am no threat. I seek a pack to join actually. I can fight and hunt well, and I wish no further contact with the human world. What must I do to gain your trust?" he asked her with pleading blue eyes. Hie ears lowered, as was his tail, his fur slightly bristled. He was in submissive mode, but ready to spring on or away from her as well.
He had spoken all he could before a response was expected. The only seconds seemed like forever and he was unsure of what to do. He slowly raised his head to look more at her but not in her eyes, knowing that would trigger a challenge and he wished not to harm a female or anyone at this point. He inhaled and slowly exhaled and his form stayed the same. Large, well built, a bit thin but only due to hunger. He hoped she would see him as he was and not as a threat.

She smelt the air but was careful not to turn her eyes away from him. There was a fox approaching and surely this would cause a fight. The fox weren't as accepted as the wolves by far. But she was torn. She could leave the wolf here to fend for himself, which was wrong. Or, she could take him back to the caves, but that was wrong too. She had to protect her pack, but he was one of them. They are one in the same. But something about these humans he spoke of and the purified vines around his neck worried her.
She took a step forward watching his reaction. When he didn't react, she moved closer. "Don't move, she told him until she was close enough she could snap his neck with one move. But, she didn't. Instead, she sniffed him.
Male, Weak, 3 Years, Fertile
She chewed on the metal, pulling on it a little bit. The taste made her want to vomit. So different. So unnatural. "What are these things?" She needed to know more about the wolf before she made a decision. And the chains were just throwing her off.

"My name is Alastair. I also go by Alais for short but only ones I trust call me that. I am not going to hurt you or anyone in your pack. You have new cubs. I can smell them. Congratulations. A bigger pack means more protection, but also more mouths to feed. I would be honored if you would...allow me to stay with your pack. You will not regret it, I swear." He said this with pure honesty and confidence. He showed no signs of trickery or evil. He just hoped the message was put out as he intended to her.
"May I ask your name? I have given you mine." He asked a bit daringly but respectful as well.

Aura backed away from the outsider, looking him over for one last time. The foxes were coming close and she had to get him out of here. "You may come back with us." her voice ice cold. She started walking into the bush expecting him to follow. "You are NOT to go near the children. You are NOT to take food without permission. You are NOT allowed near the sick. You are NOT allowed near the elders. You WILL sleep outside at night," she listed rule after rule that would keep her pack safe. She stopped part way home to lean down and pee on the boundary. "Take a good whif because we share this boundary with the foxes and they won't think twice before killing you."
She stopped when they got close to the caves. "These are out caves and this is where you'll sleep," she pointed out before she continued. Wolves watched him carefully and mothers pulled their cubs away, back into the nursing den. A young apprentice growled as they passed, but Aura didn't stop him. "Right now, you rank below that apprentice. You will be judged on your loyalty and each morning you will report to me at sunrise to work for me and the clan. Than, when I think your worthy, you will be accepted as a warrior."
She finally sat in her den. "This is my den where you will meet me each morning, but not before knocking first, understood?"

Alastair was shocked at all her rules, but understood where she came from. He was a stranger to them all and a potential threat. He had to make sure and remember all the rules that were laid before him and respect them. He nodded to her after each rule was read. When they got to the camp and he was growled at by the apprentice, he almost growled back, but remembered his place and forced it back. He simply narrowed his eyes at him.
He followed her to her den where he was to report to each morning for assignments. If this was how he was to win their trust than so be it. He would do whatever was asked of him without hesitation.
After the not so warm welcome, he went to where he was told to sleep, scratched up some moss, dirt and leaves, making a nest-like bed for him to sleep in. It would do. It was warm and he was used to sleeping in worse places, so this did not bother him. He kept awake watching all around him the other wolves that slunk by him with disbelieving glares. He wanted to say something to all to them, and challenge those that sneered at him. But he dared not ruin his chance of joining this Pack.
One all was quiet, he lowered his head on his paws and slowly drifted to sleep. He dreamed of he and his brother at the military lab and being tested and poked and prodded. It was not a pleasent dream and it woke him in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. He panted heavily and looked around. Only a dream. He sighed and it took him nearly an hour to drift back off to sleep.
